What are micro fiber cloths?

Micro fiber cloths are synthetic fibers made from polyesters, polyamides (nylon), and or a blend of polyester and polyamide. Among the special characteristics of micro fiber include softness, durability, absorption, water repellency, electrodynamics, wicking abilities and filtering capabilities.

The shape, size and combinations of micro fiber cloths are selected for specific uses. Micro fiber cloths are used in various products such as apparel, upholstery, industrial filters and cleaning products.

Why buy micro fiber cloths?

Micro fiber cloths are commonly used in athletic wear since the material draws sweat away from the body, keeping the wearer cool and dry. The elasticity of micro fiber also makes them ideal materials for men and women’s undergarments.

While micro fiber cloth can be very soft-to-the-touch it can also be durable enough for general clothing use such as skirts and jackets. Clothes made of micro fiber cloths retain their shape well.

Tablecloths, furniture, and car interiors made from micro fiber cloth are liquid repellant and resistant to stain.

Micro fiber cloths are very useful in cleaning photographic lenses, computer screens and eyeglasses because they are non-abrasive. Micro fiber cleaning cloths can absorb oily matter without leaving any residue, lint or dust.

Micro fiber cloths have many applications in commercial cleaning. Mops and other cleaning products that are made of 100% polyester micro fiber cloth can hold up to seven times its weight in water and have exceptional ability to absorb oils. They also last longer and require less effort to use. Micro fiber cleaning fabrics can be used to wash floors, furniture, walls and others without the need for detergents or cleaning solutions.

Additional Information

Not all micro fiber cloths are suitable for removing heavy dust, debris, and particles from sensitive surfaces. Although the cloth itself is non-abrasive, sensitive surface can easily be damaged by grit or other abrasive particles that the cloths may retain. Experts recommend using flat, non-rugged microfiber cloth for this purpose.

Most micro fiber cloth cleaners are reusable. However, do not use oily, fabric softeners, or soap-based detergents to wash mops and rags made of micro fiber cloths. The oils in these products will clog up the fibers and make them less effective. Use regular washing detergent instead.

Micro fiber cloth cleaners designed for optical components are disposable. They should not be used again once the cloth has been used to wipe the surface. These have already collected debris and may scratch optical surfaces.
